July 2007: League AGM and New Cup Introduced

At this years AGM, Esprit's proposed idea of introducing a new cup competition for the lower divisions and playing the prestious Corinthian Cup every season for the higher divisions was accepted by the board and the other clubs. Everything else went smoothly and the league tables were constituted as normal. The new teams accepted and seeds have been updated in the current league table page. Esprit are seeded last and really do have a lot of work to do to gain the respect of their peers once more.

Esprit FC have already published their pre-season programme to the local press earlier than normal. Unlike previous years they will be competing on Saturdays afternoons as well as Sundays mornings during August. It will be the first time in their history that the club will have played on a different day from Sunday. The move according to the Esprit manager is to give everyone a chance to play, including new players and push the fitness levels higher than ever before with 2 games a weekend. Runo is quoted to have said, "For the last two seasons, it pains me to say that we havent really competed. We have turned up and played and had some fun along the way but I want to win more games this season and be more competitive. The bottom line is we havent been good enough. I have already decided to be more ruthless with the players and I hope the players follow suit with their football and not be so laid back this season. I want to look in the mirror at the end of this season and say that I have done my best."

They start their pre-season on the 5th of August and wrap up their pre-season programme on the 30th of September.
