Neg is an absolute Esprit legend. He played in the club's first ever match and wore his heart on his sleeve for an amazing 13 seasons. He was appointed the first captain by the manager and led the way season after season. In his first season, he played in almost every single match and marshalled the midfield in what was a weak side in the early years. His stand out performances helped him earn the first ever Esprit Player of the Year award, a traditional award that still continues today.

After 3 full seasons, Neg went travelling to New Zealand as he was to play a role in the Lord of the Ring films. He capped his last game with a goal before he boarded the plane.

The Esprit skipper hunts down another opponent.

Once he returned from a year's sabbatical, he came back to a stronger Esprit side but there was still a place for him. On the opening day of the season against Partizan Wanstead, Neg carried on where he left off and scored a hat trick to put Esprit at the top of the table. He continued to set up goals and also save them at the other end as he continued to run from box to box for the Esprit cause.

Neg also led by example as he helped his club to their first piece of silverware as they won the Creative Printers Cup in 2004. The following season, Neg excelled and was voted the player of the tournament, as he pushed Esprit over the finishing line so that they would retain the cup. A couple of goals down against Romhill, and minutes left on the clock, Neg set up a goal and grabbed a brace himself to win the match,

He following this up in the final by setting up a couple of goals against Glendale. His prize was to lift the trophy over his head when Esprit won the Creative Printers Cup for a second time. With his best friend from school, Olgun Gokdemir, he had a special partnership and it was adapt that they were both put into the Esprit Hall of Fame on the same day on the club's 10th anniversairy.

Neg was injured for most of his final season at the club but he finished off his Esprit career in glorious fashion. Winning the League cup final at Thurrock FC! He also left the club having set a club record of 40 assists. Esprit had lost one of its favourite sons.

Tango finding the half time tea a bit hot !
